Nicole and Bruno present their PhD research at European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ESGCT) 2025 in Seville, Spain, where Nicole received a GW4 travel grant, followed by a well-earned ‘Molecular Mingle’ party!

Ben attended a Gordon Research Seminar on the Cerebellum in Geneva, Switzerland. He presented a poster titled “In vivo cerebellar imaging reveals bone marrow derived cells fuse with Purkinje neurons to form stable heterokaryons expressing donated genes”.

Bruno and Kevin attended the AT Clinical Research Conference in Loughborough, UK, where Bruno received a GW4 travel grant to present his work on developing a haematopoietic stem cell gene therapy for AT, and chaired the session on Critical Advances in AT Scientific Research.

Nicole and Shash participated in the Alzheimer’s Research UK Conference 2025 in Birmingham, which brought together researchers to present cutting‑edge work on biomarkers, early diagnosis, and novel therapeutic approaches in Alzheimer’s disease.

Kevin was invited to Boston as a keynote speaker and panel member at the Gene Therapy for AT workshop, bringing together experts from around the world to discuss gene therapy strategies in the ataxia-telangiectasia field.

Bruno, Sian and Kevin attended the International Congress for Ataxia Research in London, where Sian’s poster on ‘Developing an ex vivo haematopoietic stem cell gene therapy for Friedreich’s ataxia’ attracted a lot of interest.

Sian went to Frankfurt, Germany to attend the Friedreich’s Ataxia: Basic Science Retreat, organised by European Friedreich's Ataxia Consortium for Translational Studies (EFACTS). Here, she presented her early in vivo findings on Autologous haematopoietic stem cell gene therapy for people with Friedreich's ataxia.

The Kemp Lab goes to Cardiff to the GW4 Stem Cell Research Day, where Sian presented her work on using stem cells and gene therapy to treat Friedreich’s ataxia. Followed by a fun day trip around Cardiff city.

Kevin and Sian attended the International Congress for Ataxia Research, Dallas, Texas, USA, where Sian received a travel grant from Ataxia UK to present her work on an ex vivo haematopoietic stem cell gene therapy for Friedreich’s ataxia.

Kevin, Sian and Nicole attended 13th FENS Forum of Neuroscience in Paris, France, with Nicole presenting the poster. The conference brought together neuroscientists from around the world, offering a valuable opportunity to share research, engage with the latest developments in the field, and reconnect face-to-face after nearly two years of virtual meetings.

Nicole was awarded a place on the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) Young Investigator Training Programme, supporting a two-week research visit in the Dr. Devrim Kilinc’s lab at the Institut Pasteur de Lille, France.
